Some products have a second life after their monthly box.
Hallstavik Tempe chips were part of our May edition, Made in the North. They have since become one of the products people return to GRAINED for.
That matters to us. Choosing something for a box is a judgement made before everyone else has tried it. Seeing someone come back for another packet tells us something we couldn’t know at the packing table.
Made from Swedish legumes, these are tempeh chips, with broad bean and lupin varieties in our assortment. If tempeh usually makes you think of something to slice and cook for dinner, this is a different way to meet it.
They also express something we wanted to explore with Made in the North: the unexpected things being made close to home. Discovery can start with an ingredient you recognise, used in a form you haven’t encountered before.
There is no elaborate preparation required. Open a packet and put it on the table before dinner. Or use some of the chips as a crunchy finish for a salad or a bowl of soup.
If you are choosing between the varieties, check the ingredients and allergen information for each. The lupin version contains lupin; gluten-free does not mean suitable for every dietary requirement.
We spend a lot of time looking ahead to the next edition. A product like this is a useful reminder to look back, too. A monthly theme introduces something, but your interest helps decide what stays on the shelves.
That is one of the connections between the box and the Living Room that we enjoy most. The discovery can happen in May. The next packet can become part of an ordinary Friday.
